The Correlation between Self-management and Personality Characteristics of College Students in Suzhou

Abstract: Self-management is very important for the success of College Students, so the study of their self-management level is necessary for Higher Education Management. Moreover, it's the responsibility of the higher educationors.Based on literature, the author used questionnaire survey method to investigate the self-management of college students of different gender, profession, place of birth, grade, college and whether single-child or not. The relationship of self-management and personality characteristics was also concerned about. This study reached the following main conclusions:1. There is no significant difference between different genders in general level of self-management, but female college students are significantly better than male students in self-control and work management and male students is significantly better than female students in self-efficacy.2. There are no significant differences between single-child college students and non-single-child students in general level of self-management, but the non-single-child college students are significantly better than the single-child students in self-expression.3. There are no significant differences between different professions in general level of self-management, but the liberal arts college students are significantly better than the science students in self-control.4. There are no significant differences between different born-places in general level of self-management, but rural college students are significantly better than students born in the city in interpersonal relationships, self-efficacy and self-expression.5. There are no significant differences between different grades in general level of self-management. And there were significant differences in college student self-management lever among four-year college students and the strdents in first,second, third grade.But there is no significant difference among the first, second, third grade.6. There are significant differences between different colleges. but Undergraduate college students' self-management level is significantly better than that of the specialist college students. Undergraduate-run students are significantly better than that of private undergraduate. Undergraduate-run students are significantly better than the specialist students. But there is no difference between students of critical and ordinary colleges. Also,there is no difference between students of private undergraduate college and junior college.7. The level of self-management of college Students is affected by personality characteristics. There is relationship between the characteristics of warmth, intelligence, stability, dominance, excitability, immutability, braveness, sensitivity, fantasy, independence, self-discipline and total self-management.8. The level of self-management of students with different personality charactristics is different. The level of self-management is better for the students with high scores in the characteristics of intelligence, stability, dominance, immutability, braveness, independent of personality. And the level of self-management is better for the students with low scores in the characteristics of warmth,excitability, fantasy.9. Using multiple regression analysis, the author found that personality characteristics of braveness, intelligence, immutability, fantasy, warmth, nature of tension, stability can predict the level of self-management and there is close correlation between the seven characteristics and the level of self-management…
